The City of Auburn has several volunteer boards and authorities that work to make Auburn a successful City. Members are Auburn citizens and individuals who run businesses in the City. These boards make important recommendations to the City, provide input on planning and zoning questions, and help plan for Auburn’s future.

Your Downtown Development Authority/Main Street Program is an authority that works for downtown revitalization, economic development, and historic preservation in our downtown area. The DDA meets on the second Thursday of each month.

The Planning Commission helps to maintain the character of our City and makes recommendations regarding growth, promoting economic health and improving the quality of life for all citizens. The Planning & Zoning Board meets on the third Wednesday of every month.

Zoning Board of Appeals—reviews variance requests and appeals of decisions of the planning official. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month.

Parks & Leisure Commission—responsible for overseeing the City’s Parks & Leisure programs and the City’s five parks. This board meets on the second Wednesday of each month. The Parks & Leisure Director Michael Parks is the staff member assigned to this board.

As you can see, our citizens are very involved in our City. If you are interested in serving, please drop by a meeting and speak to a staff or board member. You can also volunteer for the Friends of the Auburn Library and the Community Garden Steering Committee.
