Parks

The City of Auburn boasts seven (7) parks within the city limits.  These parks are overseen by the City of Auburn Parks & Leisure Commission who are appointed by City Council and the Auburn Parks & Leisure Director Josh Campbell. The Parks & Leisure Commission meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm in City Council Chambers.

Parks and Leisure Commission Agendas and Minutes

Fields are being reconditioned so they can be brought up to tournament shape. Our youth baseball teams continue to grow and we hope to bring in more softball teams.  We look forward to broadening the sports activities offered by the City of Auburn. The Mary Carter park will expand into a Sports Complex with multipurpose fields and other amenities.

Our children’s park has a new pavilion to hold picnics and provide shelter. 6th Street Park is an exciting project! The concept design calls for the construction of a dog park and we will be working closely with the Auburn Public Works Department to complete this. Located behind Auburn Elementary, the park will host two sections for the dogs based on dog size. We will also have walking trails and quiet little spaces to sit and relax.

The City of Auburn Parks & Leisure director also works with our Older Wiser Laughing Seniors (OWLS) to keep them actively involved in the social activities of Auburn, Barrow and Gwinnett counties and beyond. He will be programming and scheduling meetings, trips and socials—let’s hope he can keep up with our active seniors!
